George Lynch - Lynch Mob Club Red

The legendary guitarist George Lynch performed with his band Lynch Mob at Club Red this past Friday night wowing us with his extraordinary musical abilities on the guitar that only Lynch can.

George Lynch is not just another guitarist. Lynch was one of the founding guitarist to use the art of tapping and pinching harmonics and has a very distinctive style all of his own. Lynch is always evolving as a musician,and has a hand in making quality products to produce unique sounds of the guitar. Many musical instrument manufacturers consult with Lynch creatively to produce equipment. The most notable is his endorsement with ESP Guitars. ESP has held George as their highest profiled endorser for close to 20 years. Electric guitar pickup guru Seymour Duncan has also honored George with his own signature series pickup called the “Screamin’ Demon.” Now a highly regarded standard in the guitar world, the “Screamin’ Demon” reigns as one of Seymour Duncan’s most popular items to date. Lynch also conceived the design for a triple amp selector switching system called the “Tripler” which is now being manufactured by Morley. And that is just to name a few.

Lynch has chosen these extraordinary musicians for this latest line up of his band Lynch Mob. This lineup includes vocalist Marq Torien (Bullet Boys), bassist James "JLo" LoMenzo (White Lion, Megadeath), and Brian Tichy (Tichy has toured/recorded with artists including Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne, Seether, Velvet Revolver, Foreigner, Pride & Glory, Glenn Hughes,Sass Jordan, Slash's Snakepit and his own band Ball.)

As the lights went down you feel the suspense of the crowd. You could hear Lynch before you could see him. When Lynch did hit the stage is was like a climax, a climax that kept surging from Lynch through the crowd and kept surging throughout the whole show. To see such a legendary guitarist so up close and personal as the venue Club Red can accommodate was exhilarating. Lynch Mob did not disappoint. The set list of the night included She's Evil, River, Hell Child, Into the Fire, Alone Again, Mr. Scary, Music Master, Where Do You Sleep, Tooth and Nail and rounded the show out with Wicked Sensation!! If you missed the show, then you missed a stimulating performance not to mention a Guitar Legend.

Faster Pussycat and The Hollywood Saints @ Club Red - Sept 24th

Faster Pussycat

As the lights went out and the fog machine began to blow you could feel the anxious anticipation from the crowd. The curtain dropped and there they were, with the dehumanizing master himself, the true King of Hollywood Sleaze Rock-N-Roll Taime Downe. Faster Pussycat came out like a slap to the face, then seduced you back into their web wanting more. They sounded just as good, if not better than 1987 when their debut album was released. Though they have been through some changing of members, this last line up of "band camp" Taime Downe - lead vocals (1986–1993, 2001–present) , Xristian Simon - guitar (2001–present), Michael Thomas - guitar (2007–present), Danny Nordahl - bass (2001–present), Chad Stewart - drums, percussion (2001–present), have been together long enough to have everything in synche, like a well oiled machine, or maybe I should say in their terms a girlfriend you have broken in and trained the way you want. The set list included all the favorites Bathroom Wall, Cathouse, Slip of the Tongue, House of Pain, Poison Ivy, Glory Hole, Shut up and F*ck, Sex, Drugs and Rock N Roll!. The musical talent in this band is surpassed by none. Faster Pussycat have been doing it longer and better than anyone and combined with the Rough-N-Sexy voice of Taime Downe that fits so well with the lyrics to the songs it is no wonder these guys are still out there making music and touring. Front man Taime Downe has remained true to himself and his music all these years. He hasn't sold out and remains to grow artistically and though larger than life to some, very real. Taimie is quite the character, but you would have to be, to be the King of Hollywood Rock-N-Roll Sleaze! The crowd was taken in, romanced, used, abused, spit back out and loved every minute of it. The band currently has a new cd out which is called "Front Row for the Donkey Show". The new c.d. is the FIRST and ONLY live recording from Faster Pussycat. The new c.d. is the next best thing to being there, and if you are like me you would love to be "Front Row" for Faster Pussycat everyday, so I know I will be purchasing the new c.d "Front Row for the Donkey Show". Faster Pussycat put on the show that night at Club Red that we have all come to expect and love. Don't ever miss these guys when they come to town, it's not just a show, it's an experience, from the Masters themselves and no one can deliver like Faster Pussycat can. The hot local band The Hollywood Saints opened up the show for Faster Pussycat with their expertise in 80's rock. The Hollywood Saints come at you hard and thunderous. The band consist of Geno Dellamorte-vocals, Nakd Dave-bass, Steve Conley-guitar, Matt Brist-guitar and Robbie Six-drums. The Hollywood Saints have opened up for National acts such as Y&T, LA Guns, Steel Panther, Firehouse and of course Faster Pussycat. I spoke with Nakd Dave, bassist, who stated the band have been playing together for about a year. This band is full of talented musicians. Yes, they played covers, but not the normal covers you usually hear bands play. Each member played with skill and precision. The bass and drums timing was excellent and the guitar work in this band is perfection. The Hollywood Saints brought you back in time when music actually had killer dueling guitars and we actually got to hear some guitar leads. When speaking with Nakd Dave he also stated that the set list changes constantly. I like that, so each time you go to see The Hollywood Saints it will be different show with different songs so the WOW factor will always be there. The show I saw included the set list of songs such as Dokken (Tooth and Nail), Aldo Nova (Fantasy), Judas Priest (Hell Bent for Leather) and my favorite of the night Motely Crue (Live Wire) how could you NOT enjoy yourself!! The Hollywood Saints are a band you definitely need to see and do not want to miss if you love hard rock music of the 80's.

I couldn't let the passing of Michael Jackson go without me commenting on this event. I have to say and you all know everything here is only my opinion but I wasn't a big fan of Michael Jackson. I was always into the Heavy Metal Music or Hard Rock growing up. I do remember when Billy Jean came out and it seemed as if all of my friends owned the album...yes I said ALBUM!! Wait...I take that back only my GIRL friends owned the album. I got so SICK of hearing everything off of that album. Maybe in a way Michael Jackson pushed me into loving that "Heavy Metal" music...hmmm...something to think about anyway. From the time that album came out I never really paid much attention to Michael Jackson. I just wasn't into him, or his music. But there was one that really hit me and remains to be a favorite of mine till this day is "Man in the Mirror". That song has a lot of real honesty in it and I admit I feel something when I hear it..and sing along with it

With all of that being said I now hope I have proven to you that I was anything but a fan of Michael Jackson's. Then all of the accusation's that took place later in years in regards to him and ....well we all know what he was accused of...and that just made me ill. But we all have to remember we are all innocent until proven guilty. Who am I to judge anyone? One thing that has stuck in my mind that I have recently seen was an interview with Michael's Mother, she had stated for us to really think about what he was accused of and asked the question "If our son or daughter had been sexually abused would we have settled for money in return for our child's justice? I know what my answer to that is...HELL NO!! So that is something to ponder before we pass judgement.

Not being a big fan the passing of Michael really didn't hit me in any way what-so-ever.

UNTIL

I was flipping through the tv on Tuesday and there it was, Michael's memorial service. So yeah I stopped and watched it. I was touched and yeah maybe even some tears came to my eyes. I was reminded of all of his music. His younger days and the songs he sang I used to sing along to on the radio. Especially "I'll Be There". I was also reminded of all of the music this man had made throughout his life. All of the good things he did with his money towards charities around the world.

So....no matter what he was....and throughout the years he did make us wonder what he actually was....Michael was an entertainer as well as a wonderful and great singer/songwriter. He will be remembered all over the world for years to come. And now that all of the hoopla is over....I can now feel the realization that a legend is gone and will never be again.

What I mean by that is .... Who will be our next big musical icon... our next big musical legend

and

Who will be the next legend that will pass...though sad to say...I don't know if there are really any musical legends out there anymore...well...I could name a few of my personal favorites but I don't want to think about losing any of them....so I wont.

Are you ever in the mood to listen to a certain type of music and you turn on your radio without hearing anything you like? Or you hear something you like and then the next song is just awful or there are so many commercials it just breaks the whole mood? Well I have found a solution!!

There are certain times when I want to listen to just an particular genre of music. Sometimes I want Rock such as Buck Cherry or Hard Rock such as Metallica or Slayer. Sometimes the 80's hair band rock or 80's southern rock. Then there are times I want to listen to folk music such as John Prine. Other times I may want just easy listening James Taylor type stuff. Sometimes jazz, and sometimes (God Forbid) country. Yeah I said it, so sue me.

Well a few months ago while hanging out with friends one of them mentioned to me a place on the Internet I could go and make my "own" radio station. This intrigued me so I had to check this out. The site I am referring to is Pandora Radio. I must say I was a little skeptical at first but what the hell, I will try anything once. So I found the site and let me tell you I go to this site just about everyday. Especially when I am getting ready for work or doing house work.

First you sign up...which is totally free mind you. Then you just put in the name of a band or song that you would like to hear. From that point one the site will play songs that are of the same type sound. So no matter what mood you are in, and I am a very moody person, it will play whatever you are in the mood for. I love this place!! Don't worry about downloads like with other online music sources because you don't have to download anything into your computer. Which is awesome because I have been to places such as Lime Wire and such and those places have really screwed up my computer. So be assured that you can go to Pandora Radio with ease that your computer will be safe. I have never had any problems.

So the next time you have to change c.d.'s or you have so much on your I POD that what comes on next is breaking "your mood" just go to Pandora Radio and let their wizards pick out your "mood" music. They do a great job!! Another great thing is you will be turned onto a lot of other artists that you may have not even known existed at all. It is a great tool for me as I think it will be to you also.

The Weather isn't the only thing that is Hot in Arizona

So friday night I headed out to Joe’s Grotto to see the debut of the band Altered Silence. Before heading out to the show I had checked the bands myspace page where they described their music as “armed with a potent set of high energy Metal with thrash and hardcore overtones mixed in with metal. “ Well, I am a very big fan of metal but not so much of thrash/hardcore, or so I thought. They didn’t have any music downloaded on their page yet… (But is promised to be there soon), so actually I didn’t know what to expect. But I was going and I was excited to see this band.

These guys hit the stage with intensity that demanded the attention of everyone there, and you know what, they got it. As I looked around the crowd, all eyes were focused on these four talented musicians. You don’t see that often…especially on a bands debut performance!

They opened their set with “Regrets”; the song had crunching guitar riffs along with thumping bad ass bass and drum fills that really made me take notice and made me smile. I really don’t hear little drum fills anymore in today’s music, and I don’t hear a whole lot of guitar anymore either and the bass, all I can say is the bassist played with such intensity that he actually broke a sting. So now do you get the picture of how intense this music is? I loved it.

With every song they played “Altered Silence” did not disappoint. Each song, “Regrets, Cloaked in White, My Illness, Grey Skies, Confession and Acid Rain” has its own unique individuality and style, each just as hard, strong and intense as the next. Some songs even had a little added sexy sound and groove. So all you Rock N Roll girls out there, you will be able to appreciate some hard metal/thrash that you can actually move your ass to!!
The band did throw in one cover song “Ace of Spades” which mixed into their set quite nicely.

If this is what thrash/hardcore/metal is well it’s not the same thrash/hardcore/metal that I have been hearing for the past few years.....it is 1,000 times better!! It was so refreshing to see such seasoned, talented musicians playing with so much stage presence and such vindication making music that was actually pleasing to the ear.

Altered Silence is one band I look forward to seeing time and time again.

Friday Means Rock N Roll Baybeeeee!!!

Well T.G.I.F. and there is not a better way to kick off the weekend than to go to a Rock N Roll club to soak in some good tunes!!

I am headed out the door to check out the debut of ~ ALTERED SILENCE ~

Buckcherry

Okay if you haven’t heard of these guys WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? I had heard of Buckcherry for some time…years in fact. I liked their music it always had a catchy beat and good guitar work. The thing that kinda had me leaning on disliking them was the guitar chords used in their songs sounded WAY too familiar. Like their song “Lit Up” sounds just like the song “Shock Me” by Ace Freely and there was always a AC/DC sound. But I always enjoyed the music and I always enjoyed the vocals. What has leaded me to the point of this band being my favorite Rock and Roll band at this point in time was seeing them live. I was fortunate enough to go to Crue Fest this year and was mostly excited to see Sixx AM.

I couldn't wait to see DJ Ashba play live, I had been a fan of his since Beautiful Creatures and he SO deserves all the recognition he is getting now for his fabulous guitar work…but sad to say Sixx AM did not play Phoenix. It had something to do with the lead singer being sick.:( Hopefully they will come back and make it up to all of us Phoenicians!!) But I was also excited to see Paparoach and Buckcherry. In all honesty I was more excited to see these other bands than I was to see Motley Crue. But I’m a Rocker Chick from way back so I had already seen Motley Crue on every tour they have had since the 80’s. I love em’ but I wanted some new blood if you know what I mean.

Neither Paparoach nor Buckcherry were a disappointment.

Paparoach played so many songs that I knew but didn’t know that it was their songs. So that was delightful surprise. They held the audiences attention and really got the crowd going. I would definitely go see them again, and again, and again.
But…

When Buckcherry hit the stage….ahhhh they were AWESOME!!! All of the songs had a great bluesy, sexy beat and were filled with great rocking guitar work. The band was full of so much energy!! They had great stage presence and the music as I mentioned was awesome. One thing that really makes this band and who just happens to be the Hot Rocker Boi of the Week/Month…is their lead singer Josh Todd.

He is an awesome front man…with vocals that have a down and dirty kind of sound but most of all sexy. He struts across the stage like a cheetah, sleek and smooth. He reminds me of a young Steven Tyler. He has so much sex appeal as he dances around the stage like he owns it and ladies I'm sure you will agree with me that he in fact does. I’m sure there were tons of wet panties in the audience that night and every time they play...I know mine were lol... Plus who can not notice the fact that he has Ken Doll body that is toned and chiseled in all of the right places. I think you will agree with me that his physique does not hurt matters one little bit and he is such a pleasure to watch onstage. All I can say is if I were around Josh Todd I would never let myself get “Too Drunk " the name of their new release off of their new c.d. Black Butterfly.
So if you haven’t actually seen these guys live…try to catch a show whenever they stroll into your town. They are gonna rock your socks off!! And you won’t be disappointed!
